15 killed, 25 injured in head-on collision in Pekitsame

A deadly head-on collision involving a Mercedes-Benz container truck and a Mercedes-Benz passenger bus left 15 individuals useless and 25 injured.

It occurred within the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 2, in Pekitume, close to Peki Excessive Faculty.

The accident occurred when a Mercedes-Benz container truck with registration quantity WR 1553-C touring from Enkwanta to Accra collided with a Mercedes-Benz passenger bus with registration quantity GR 3215-E touring from Bator in Oti to Caviti.

Breakdown of casualties

A complete of 40 individuals have been concerned within the accident, together with 21 males, 15 ladies, and 4 kids. In keeping with the Ghana Nationwide Hearth Service (GNFS), firefighters rescued 25 injured individuals, together with 23 adults and two kids, in a coordinated rescue operation.

Sadly, 15 individuals misplaced their lives, 9 males and 6 ladies, the GNFS introduced.

Emergency response

The injured have been taken to Peki Authorities Hospital for remedy, whereas the deceased was handed over to the police, who took them to the hospital mortuary for preservation and additional investigation.

The reason for the accident remains to be below investigation.

The GNFS known as on all motorists to abide by street site visitors guidelines, keep away from harmful driving practices and train excessive warning on the street with a view to stop accidents and save lives.
