Ghana Maritime Authority celebrates women breaking barriers in the maritime sector

The Ghana Maritime Authority joins the worldwide neighborhood in commemorating Worldwide Ladies in Maritime Day, celebrating the braveness, innovation and achievements of girls throughout sectors from seafaring and port companies to engineering, regulation and management.

In a press release issued on Monday, Could 18, 2026, the authorities reaffirmed their dedication to gender inclusion and the empowerment of girls and ladies within the maritime sector, stressing that range and equal participation are important to enabling innovation, strengthening Ghana’s maritime sector and driving nationwide growth.

“From seafaring and port companies to engineering, regulation and management, girls proceed to interrupt down limitations and drive progress,” the assertion stated.

The authorities known as on authorities businesses, business stakeholders and companions to help efforts to mentor and advance girls within the maritime sector.

“Let’s sail collectively in direction of a future the place each girl’s full potential is realized,” the assertion added.

To all girls within the maritime fraternity, officers praised their braveness, dedication and achievements, noting that their contributions will encourage future generations and transfer the business ahead.

This assertion was made by the Director-Basic of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Naval Commander (Rtd.) Dr. Kamaludeen Ali.

Worldwide Maritime Ladies’s Day, held yearly, acknowledges the necessary function girls play within the maritime business and goals to advertise gender steadiness in a historically male-dominated sector.
