Peter Okoye

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has threatened to sue a social media person who posted offensive claims about his late mom, demanding that the put up be deleted and a subsequent apology made.

The controversy started on March 21, when a person posting as Ademola Ogudu shared a message alleging that Okoye’s late mom Josephine Okoye opposed his marriage to spouse Laura Omotayo on ethnic grounds and linked her demise to that alleged act of hostility. Okoye, referred to as Mr. P and one half of the now-disbanded duo P Sq., denounced the claims as false and dangerous.

He demanded that the put up be deleted and that he make a public apology, or he threatened to go to courtroom. “Should you do not take it down and apologize instantly, I’ll take authorized motion,” he wrote to X.

This declare is opposite to the file. Josephine Okoye died in 2012, a 12 months earlier than her son married Omotayo in 2013, and stories on the time linked her demise to problems from coronary heart surgical procedure in India.

Okoye used the episode to make a broader level, calling for an finish to on-line assaults on people who find themselves lifeless and unable to reply for themselves. The put up drew heavy criticism from Nigerians, a lot of whom supported him.

It was not reported whether or not the person took down the put up, apologized, or whether or not Okoye pressed forward with the lawsuit.
