In a pre-tour assembly with group chiefs and elders, Agboza expressed concern concerning the charge at which Mount Adakuru’s vegetation was depleting.

That, and different unfriendly human actions on the mountain, could have triggered the landslide to move down the slope at such an alarming charge.

Mr. Agboza, the Minister of Roads and Highways, mentioned Adakuru Herekpe is blessed with huge and fertile land and it’s time to cease plowing the mountain slopes and go all the way down to group land for farming.

He recalled an analogous incident locally 9 years in the past and mentioned what occurred Wednesday may very well be a precursor to extra tragic incidents on the mountain.

The Volta Area Minister, James Gunu, who accompanied the MPs, expressed comparable sentiments, saying it was time for native residents to undertake conservation practices to forestall such incidents sooner or later.

He praised native youth who braved robust winds and energy outages to rescue a lady and her son trapped within the rubble.

Concerning local weather change, the regional minister mentioned that wildfires, reducing down bushes and over-cultivating mountain slopes should not pleasant and secure responses to local weather change.

“We should be sure that future generations are heirs and never simply survivors,” he added.

Parliamentarians and native ministers then visited injured ladies and youngsters admitted to Ho Educating Hospital (HTH).
