A father has been arrested for tying his son to a bike and dragging him onto a North Legon street after the boy went out to play soccer towards his directions.

Police have arrested a 60-year-old man for allegedly tying his teenage son to a quad bike and dragging him alongside a tarred street, inflicting a number of accidents on the boy in Accra’s North Legon.

The suspect, recognized as Eric Manti, was arrested by the Madina Regional Police Command following an incident that occurred close to the Adonai Church space on Might 3, 2026.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest at a press convention on Thursday, Might 7, 2026, by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Director of Public Relations on the Police Headquarters.

In response to police, the sufferer was the suspect’s 16-year-old son, who had gone out to play soccer along with his buddies towards his father’s directions.

Police consider the suspect turned enraged by the boy’s actions, confronted him, tied him to a quad bike and drove off.

The boy reportedly fell onto the tarred street and was dragged for a number of minutes earlier than residents intervened and stopped the suspect.

The sufferer was injured and brought to the hospital for therapy.

“He acknowledged that he acted out of anger on the sufferer’s habits,” she stated.

Mr. Obeng suggested mother and father and guardians to undertake lawful and non-violent strategies to self-discipline their youngsters and urged the general public to report instances of kid abuse to the police and different related authorities.
