The US army stated it had shot down 4 Iranian “one-way assault drones” launched into the Strait of Hormuz, including that the drones “posed an imminent risk to regional maritime site visitors.”

U.S. forces “subsequently attacked Iranian coastal surveillance radar amenities on Goruk and Qeshm Islands to guard them from additional assaults,” U.S. Central Command (CentCom) stated in a press release.

Iran has not formally commented on the incident.

This comes days after the US and Iran exchanged assaults in an escalation that threatens a fragile ceasefire between the 2 international locations.

An Iranian drone assault on Kuwait’s worldwide airport on Wednesday killed one particular person and injured greater than 60 others, native officers stated.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) denied accountability for the airport assault, claiming the injury was brought on by a mistake by a US missile interceptor.

Centcom stated this was false and that Iran had attacked the airport in a “deliberate, calculated and unwarranted assault.”

The Revolutionary Guards earlier stated it had focused US army bases within the Gulf in retaliation for US assaults on Iranian oil tankers and Qeshm Island.

The assault occurred amid stalled ceasefire negotiations between the US and Iran, with no progress being made on an settlement to finish the conflict.

The US and Israel launched widespread assaults in opposition to Iran on February 28, sparking battle throughout the Center East.

Iran responded by attacking Israel and U.S. allies within the Gulf and successfully blocking the Strait of Hormuz, by means of which about 20% of the world’s oil and liquefied pure fuel passes. This transfer prompted oil costs to soar worldwide.

Shortly after a ceasefire was agreed in early April, the US established a blockade of Iranian ports, which President Donald Trump stated “will stay in full power and impact till an settlement is reached, licensed, and signed.”
